Woodstock 19-Year Old Arrested for Sexually Explicit Texts to CL Junior High Girl

A press release from the Crystal lake Police Department:

On November 27th 2011, a Crystal Lake resident reported that his 13 year old daughter had been receiving harassing text messages via her cell phone and Facebook account from an 18 year old male.

Police were also informed that the messages were sexually explicit and that the subject was trying to arrange to meet with the 13 year old female.

An investigation into the allegation revealed the suspect, Denzel Hayes had, in fact, sent sexually explicit messages not only to the reported victim but to two (2) other female juveniles who are also Crystal Lake residents.

On Tuesday, December 27th, 2011, at 1242 hours; Denzel Hayes (19), of 511 Leah Lane #1B, Woodstock, IL was located at the Woodstock Library where he was subsequently arrested for

  • one count of Indecent Solicitation of a Child (under 13 years of age) Class 1 Felony,
  • one count of Indecent Solicitation of a Child (13 years of age and 5 years difference in age of the alleged suspect) Class 3 Felony and
  • one count of Solicitation to meet with a child (Class A Misdemeanor).

The bond was set on the initial felonies at $40,000 and $3,500 on the misdemeanor charge.

The alleged offender remained in the custody of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Adult Correctional Facility while the investigation continued.

The subsequent investigation revealed that Denzel Hayes had knowingly solicited and had in his possession sexually explicit photographic images of a female child, under the age of thirteen.

On January 3rd, 2012, Detectives obtained a six count warrant for Aggravated Child Pornography (Class X Felonies) and served Hayes who was still in custody.

Additional bond was set at $100,000 with the bond for all charges totaling $143,500 with 10% to apply.

The alleged offender’s next court date is scheduled for January 6th, 2012 at the McHenry County Court House.
