  1. That blog is the best source of political news with a state government focus, but the blog itself is definitely slanted left and usually favors the union position on any issue.

  2. Never checked them out, I’m loyal to this blog! 🙂 I talk politics a lot with family and friends and I would have to say that we are something like 100 – 0 in favor of repealing the tax (and tollway hike). It’s quite obvious that normal, non-union folk think quite differently that the union folks.

  3. Why repeal it?

it hasn’t affected your paycheck! 3.5 to 5.5 in 2011 for IL, decrease 6.2 to 4.2 in FICA…it’s a awash and the state gets more revenue to start paying down the debt.

Stop listening to the spin doctors.

  4. For all of you who want to repeal the income tax hike… please do tell where you will cut $6B or more from the state budget per year.

  5. LC Truth…I guess you do not know all your facts so I will inform you; the Social Security tax deducted was reduced by 2%, to 4.2% (10.4% for self-employed) under the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010.

As of today this will be expiring on 2/29 due to a recent 2 month extension.

Once that day hits it will not be a wash.

People that passed math class and know their facts are “spin doctors”? 🙂

Dave…please do tell where the taxpayers are supposed to come up with the extra money when the Social Security Tax Break is over with?

We should not be a blank check so these politicians can hire friends and family to fluff jobs and take care of them for life with our money.

If I and so many others can manage a household budget, we should expect our politicians to also.

I cannot just tell my employer that they need to pay me more money because my taxes went up and I have no expendable income…so why should the state have that power?

  6. **Dave…please do tell where the taxpayers are supposed to come up with the extra money when the Social Security Tax Break is over with?**

You didn’t answer my question. Where do you want to make $6-7 billion in cuts? You simply can’t advocate for reducing state revenue by that much without being willing to go also support massive budget cuts. So what will those budget cuts be?

**We should not be a blank check so these politicians can hire friends and family to fluff jobs and take care of them for life with our money. **

    Strawman much?

**If I and so many others can manage a household budget, we should expect our politicians to also. **

The government isn’t a household, and shouldn’t be managed as such.

**so why should the state have that power?**

Because we elect the leaders of the state to have that power and make that decision?
