In 2012, the $5,000 contributions pretty much belonged to State Rep. candidate Dave McSweeney.

His non-incumbent opponent Danielle Rowe picked up three such checks at her recent fund raiser.

  • $5,000 – Empowering Children PAC, Chicago
  • $5,000 – Liberty PAC – Dan Proft, Chicago
  • $5,000 – Richard Uihlein, CEO, Uline Industries, Lake Forest
  • $1,000 – Eric Weeder, McHenry

But, upping the ante on February 2nd was McSweeney. He loaned his committee $50,000.

Meanwhile, since January 1st, incumbent State Rep. Kent Gaffney has raised no money in chunks of more than $1,000.

  1. It just appears that Tom Cross and Friends have written this race off.

Kent Gaffney has nothing going on with only few weeks left.

  2. McSweeney has almost $200,000 into his race now?

    Is that correct?

If it is what is the record for most spent on a House seat race?

  3. McSweeney is not getting desperate. I would much rather have a representative in the legislature who owes his seat to his own investment and those who have done private sector business with him than someone who owes their seat to Dan Proft and John Tillman.

  4. I would much rather have a representative in the legislature who owes her seat to the people.

Grassroots conservatives are lining up behind Danielle Rowe.

Danielle has been endorsed by the Illinois Tea Party and just recently received support from Organizing 4 Palin in Illinois.

She’s spending her time working at train stations, calling voters and knocking on their door, not calling out of state billionaires.

  5. Not everyone named Charlie is me, though it is nice that in Illinois politics insiders assume anyone with that first name is me.

The Charlie above was not, but thanks for thinking of me.

    Hope all is well, Nick.
