Residential Fire at 370 Glenwood Court, Algonquin, IL
On Saturday May 5th, 2012 at approximately 7:52 a.m. the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection was dispatched for a structure fire at 370 Glenwood Court, Algonquin, IL.
Dispatch was notified by a neighbor who discovered smoke coming from the home.
First arriving crews were on the scene at 7:59 a.m., and found a single story home with smoke coming from the eaves of the home.
Dispatch reported that the house had been abandoned.
Fire crews initiated an aggressive interior attack to search for fire and any possible victims.
The fire was found in the stairwell area and had burned away the stairs for the entire home.
The fire was put out 8:14 am.
Fire Crews remained on the scene until 1 p.m. looking for extension, investigating the fire and securing the home.
Investigators on the scene have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
A damage amount is not yet available.
The house was unoccupied at the time of the incident and there were no civilian injuries.
One fire firefighter was injured during the fire fight.
The firefighter was transported and released from the hospital with a minor, non-life-threatening injury.
The firefighter is expected to make a full recovery.
The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District received assistance from Huntley, East Dundee and Crystal Lake Fire Departments.
