What’s the Downside of Tonya Franklin’s Running against “Chainsaw Jack” Franks?

Tonya Franklin

The upside is obvious.

  • Democrat Jack Franks has to pay more attention to getting re-elected.
    • That means Jack Franks will have less time to go elsewhere in Illinois to elect other Democrats who will vote to make Mike Madigan House Speaker. (Franks has voted for Madigan seven times. That’s really helped McHenry County.)
    • That means Jack Franks can’t go door-to-door campaigning against vulnerable McHenry County Board candidates like Ken Koehler (Tryon’s Campaign Treasurer and County Board Chairman) and Bob Bless.
  • Tea Party adherents may come into or stay in McHenry County to help energize and get out the Republican vote.
  • The McHenry County Republican Party would be playing the game of addition, rather than subtraction.

The idea is to build agreement going into a general election, not encourage disagreement.

Perhaps those running the party have not noticed, but the energy is not coming from those making money out of the political game.

Those folks do what they think is expected of them, which seems to be not too much.

Lake in the Hills is flying this white flag on an ash tree which it village board decided to chop down, instead of save through treatment. "Chainsaw Jack" would be proud.

The rejuvenation of the the GOP, if it is to have one, is coming from those inspired by the TEA Party movement.

Now, I know the Taxed Enough Already folks don’t appeal to local officials who every year have decided to tax the maximum amount allowed by the Real Estate Tax Cap

But that’s where the energy in politics is coming from today.

Mike Tryon knows how much trouble he had getting enough signatures to get on the ballot.

So, what’s the downside?

  • Tonya Franklin may lose.
  • She may lose big.

Big deal!

She will be flying the Republican banner in place of the Establishment’s white flag.

She may take embarrassing anonymous hits from Jack Franks’ allies who are too chicken to put their names on the mailings.

That’s pretty much it.

What’s the Downside of Tonya Franklin’s Running against “Chainsaw Jack” Franks? — 7 Comments

  1. We have nothing to lose by getting Tonya Franklin on the ballot, and much more to gain.

I’m energized and ready to take on the task of voting and collecting signatures to have an opponent to Jack “Chainsaw” Franks.

We need to rid our state of the establishment, life long, politicians.

What is the Mchenry GOP so AFRAID of???

    Go Tonya Go!!!

  2. I would be interested in finding out how that tree could have been saved through “treatment”.

    What was “wrong” with it?

    I am serious.

    This is not sarcasm.

  3. Google Wayne White, ash tree and see.

I have written numerous articles about him. He has contracts with several Chicagoland cities.

  4. Lori is right.

The long serving politicians with all the supposed experience have done NOTHING to reclaim our corrupt, broke state.

I frequently hear of back room deals between the Republicans and Democrats on who to run and who not to challenge.

I thought it was just rumors.

After the reaction of the McHenry GOP to the precinct committeemen’s’ desire to try and claim anther seat to get the majority back in our favor, well, I have to wonder what is going on behind closed doors.

I would really like to know what questions were asked Mrs. Franklin at the “vetting” that they obviously took offense to.

How many of them knew every issue before they ran for political office?

After all these years of understanding the issues I see no gain in solving the problems.

Perhaps a fresh face with new ideas and no one expecting pay back for past favors would be a good thing.

Can this state get any worse with our current office holders?

Sure as heck can and trust me, it will.

  5. Thanks, Cal.

My sixty foot ash tree just died of old age.

    Very sad.

But you piqued my interest with that photo.

  6. Tonya has been very active in tea party politics.

Along the way, she has alienated a large number us.

She has personally attacked anyone that has supported Ron Paul, referring to us as cockroaches and other nice terms.

She has removed us from her facebook pages and blocked us.

    Nice, huh?

If she wants our support, she needs to back off her hatred for so many of us – especially since this is state politics.

  7. Tonya told me that she wanted to reach out to the Ron Paul supporters.

But there’s a difference between Ron Paul supporters and Paulbots, which are almost as bad as Obamabots.

I have been friends with Tonya on facebook for at least two years and have yet to see her attack anyone or call anyone names.

    Maybe you started the feud?
