A press release from the Crystal Lake Police Department:

On May 31st, at approximately 11:34 a.m., Crystal Lake Police responded to a residence located in the 200 Block of Peterson Parkway for a report of delayed Criminal Sexual Assault.

The victim, an 18 year old female, reported that she had been sexually assaulted by the suspect who was a known family acquaintance and had been allowed access to the home.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 16 year old male (an Algonquin resident) had been located still within the victim’s home and was identified as the alleged suspect.

He was transported to the Crystal Lake Police Department and subsequently questioned.

Police reviewed their findings with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office who approved criminal charges against the juvenile for

• one count of Criminal Sexual Assault (Class 1 Felony) and
• one count of Battery of an Insulting & Provoking Nature, (Class A Misdemeanor).

The juvenile was transported to the Kane County Juvenile Detention Facility.
