Readers of comments on McHenry County Blog know, of course, that most people do not use their real names.
Some do and for that I commend them.
I’ve been willing to be held responsible for what I write, but in this fight over whether to give “Chainsaw Jack” Franks another uncontested two-year term, I have noticed that his supporters are unwilling to stand up and be counted.
They mask their support of Franks with attacks on Tonya Franks, ignoring the possibility that she might just be able to beat Franks and prevent him from voting for Mike Madigan for House Speaker for an 8th time.
Just like Joe Walsh beat an “unbeatable” Melissa Bean.
The anonymous ones are unwilling and most embarrassed, I believe, to say they support
- Franks’ voting to hike electric rates, so monopoly Com Ed can make still more money
- toeing the teachers’ union line to prevent poor kids in Chicago from getting a decent education by voting against State Senator James Meeks’ bill to give parents money to send their children to schools of their choice (how liberals condone his “No” vote, which would have saved the state $280 million a year, is beyond me)
- Franks’ introducing a bill to allow Commonwealth Edison to cut down every tree within 20 feet of a power line (the blast email from the Defenders, letter from the Conservation District and big Sunday editorial against the idea backed him off of this idea that shows how out-of-touch he is as well as anything)
- Franks’ support of abortion up to the day before birth (evidenced by his endorsement by the truly pro-abortion Personal PAC for the last two election cycles; check out the Personal PAC questionnaire)
- Franks’ vote for civil unions
