Walkup Challenges Franks to Rule Himself Out as County Executive Candidate

August 08, 2012 By: Cal Skinner Category: County Executive, Jack Franks, McHenry County, McHenry County Board., Mike Walkup

Some musings from District 3 County Board candidate Mike Walkup:

“Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!” Wizard, Wizard of Oz

“Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!”

Now that Jack Franks has filed his petition for a binding referendum on electing a County Executive, will he run for the position himself in 2014 if it is approved?

I asked Jack while watching the hog auction at the County Fair last weekend.

He would not say.

We know he has around $500K in his re-election campaign war chest with no opponent to spend it on, and that was before the Madigan fundraiser in Chicago.

He can spend $250K on the referendum and still have another $250K in the bank, plus whatever more he can raise over the intervening two years.

He claims that this is about good government, not about him.

If so, why isn’t he willing to rule out running himself?

So I ask you Jack, will you or won’t you?

Yes or No?

Jack has so much time on his hands. Good to see our Politicians are working so hard. Gives me that warm fuzzy feeling. How was the auction Cal? I am sure the highest bidder won.

I see that Mike Walkup wrote this wrote this. Cal it would have made a good photo op.

Tonya: I prefer that our Representatives don’t do anything as they usually infringe on the people’s liberty when they do something.

Have you considered running as a write-in vs Rep Franks?
