McHenry County Board Reacts to Jack Franks’ County Czar Referendum — 17 Comments

  1. I hope as many people as possible can attend this.

This is going to be the defining local issue in the 2012 election.

This will be an enormous GOTV effort of the local GOP.

We will need all hands on deck. We must get out and walk.

We must talk to all of our friends and neighbors about this issue.

    Democrats do not want it.

    Republicans do not want it.

Only Jack wants it because it helps Jack.

    Respectfully,
    Andrew Gasser

  2. This is truly a non partisan issue.

Even the Democrats on the County Board are against it.

Folks should try to get to this meeting and see if they can say something if there is going to be a public comment segment.

You should especially push for term limits on the County Chair.

I don’t know what the advisory referendum is for sure but Bob Anderson did address the Board on Tuesday advocating that we follow the lead of DuPage County and have a referendum question about prohibiting people from holding more than one elective office at a time.

This would require a state statutory change to be binding.

    Stop the Frankenczar!

  3. If it’s so defiining, why is it set for 10:00 a.m. instead of 7:00 p.m.? I

ncreased access to these meetings is a must.

  4. Andrew

    i do agree.

    Just like you say,

Jack wants it because it helps Jack.

But guess what The Republicans dont like it because they getting a dose of there own medicine. From 1 man.

So how powerful is the Republican Party in McHenry??

  5. I have confirmed that the advisory referendum is the Bob Anderson proposal.

    Too bad it’s not binding.

That would require changing a whole bunch of state statutes.

Putting another referendum on the ballot fills the 3 referendum limit so no one can put anything else on.

  6. If you say “I disagree with an executive form of government” I’d be okay with that but please don’t call it a “czar referendum”.

Using words without any consideration of their meaning is irresponsible on your behalf.

Why not call Jack Franks a prospective dictator?

  7. Doesn’t the Open Meetings Act require times and places open and convenient for the public?

  8. All of these anonymous grenade launchers.

This is an open place and it is convenient.

    Anyone can attend.

    Whomever you may be.

    Respectfully,
    Andrew Gasser

  9. Anon So the anti-Federalists should not have been saying the President would be given the powers of a king during the ratification debates?

Especially since that is what we have today.

  10. Wonder if keeping a county administrator at McHenry County will be a deciding factor in voting down the Jack Franks referendum.

Makes the conservative approach to this question is to vote no-no.

  11. What a waste of taxpayer money, once again. Government should not be a czar with a bunch of czardines.

    It’s un-American!

  12. When are all you whiners going to understand.. this meeting is exactly what Franks wanted from the beginning.

    It’s chess, not checkers.

  13. Look at the fire in them eyes!!!!! LOL

    Those are “lets get even”eyes.

  14. So much time on Jack’s hands.

He sure is ruffling some feathers.

I thought everyone loved Jack the Conservative?

Instead of letting it bother me I will be heading to WI tomorrow, the Homecoming Rally for Romney Ryan will be a real pep rally for the spirit.

    I’ll send pics Cal.

Looks like the Republicans and our Precinct Committeemen have some work to do locally educating the voters.

They never got around to appointing me so I could help them in this county.

I guess Tina Hill didn’t have time to call me as Mark Daniels stated she would, not surprising since she was busy appointing numerous family members to vacancies.

I could have be quite helpful.

I don’t see this in a negative light because my path is always a bright place no matter where it leads, and there is plenty of work to do elsewhere.

  15. Jeffersonian, I don’t know the context of your federalist/antifederalist debate so I can’t answer. I’d have to see it but I’m not going to say just because Thomas Jefferson said it it must be correct.

    Why defend such speech?

It’s your right to say what you want but in my opinion people (especially journalists) should try to be honest and objective.

Is it called a czar referendum or did somebody who didn’t like it name it that?

What was the name of the healthcare bill?

Was it “Obamacare” or was it the Affordable Care Act?

We need to start acting like adults and quit using pejoratives.

We need to have some civil discourse.

Democracy works better when people are informed.

And if Obama were king we wouldn’t have lost our Triple A credit rating.

You can say he has too much executive power but I hope you don’t actually think Obama is the King of the United States.
