Walsh Continues to Make Headlines

Lynn Sweet’s Chicago Sun-Times column on Congressman Joe Walsh.

There is no denying that Congressman Joe Walsh know how to make headlines.

Whether they will help him get re-elected is another question.

Unanswerable, actually, until the ballots are counted in November.

Consider how Chicago Sun-Times columnist Lynn Sweet writes about him today.

The headline is

Walsh: Muslim terror threat
worse than ‘right after 9/11’

Considering nothing approaching the 9/11 tragedy has occurred in the last eleven years, some might think Walsh is blowing smoke…

Until they consider that he is on the Homeland Security Committee in Congress.

Walsh Continues to Make Headlines — 15 Comments

  1. Congressman Walsh is spot on target!

“Things” that everyday Americans are being shielded from by our government, are “Unimaginable.” Factually to “Unimaginable” for regular citizens to grasp as reality.

If people knew what was going on, they wouldn’t believe it and would say it’s not possible.

(Tell that to these wonderful young soldiers coming home who are forever scared physically and emotionally to even tell of the horrors they have witnessed…. on foreign soil… thus far!)

Well, to be clear, imagine the worse thing that your mind can conceive, then multiply that by 100.

We need to get our men and women out from the stone age area’s and get them here on our own boarders. ASAP.

I know how fearful it would appear to the average citizen to see armed soldiers walking the streets of our nation….but the alternative is worse.

I’m not ‘Hand Wringing” but we are in for a rude awakening if people don’t start accepting reality.

I thank Congressman Walsh for trying to as gently as possible, to inform everyday folks.

Now if the rest of the government would remove the veils of silence in a way such as to not cause panic, I believe American citizens will come together and realize that an ‘informed’ citizenry is a stronger citizenry.

I think our government at times, doesn’t give ‘We the People,’ enough credit for our intestinal fortitude.

    Thanks Congressman Walsh!

  2. I attended a Khalifah Conference in Chicago at the Hilton titled…”The Fall Of Capitalism, The Rise Of Islam” ……Americans need to wake up.

They weren’t singing The Pledge in there.

They aren’t satisfied with living amongst us, they want to take over and impose Sharia Law.

  3. Really? Seriously?

    Is the sky falling too?

And who killed the innocent people in Colorado?

And who killed the people in the Sihk temple?

Crazy comes in all different colors and religious beliefs.

    Get with it.

  4. Wake up yourself “Grafton” .

Crazy comes in your form as well.

Go back to the Linda Moore Blog article.

  5. Did Joe Walsh mention the nut from Chicago that they just locked up?

  6. If we had a few hundred more Joe Walshs in Congress I think we could go back to being America. He really cares about us.

  7. McHenry’s chicken littles are out is mass.

You can’t see the forest through the trees.

How come no one is really saying what the biggest threat to America is…White Supremacy.

@Jim…if we had a few more like Walsh, we all would be neanderthals.

You do realize he is on his way out of here.

  8. Re: Jim says: 08/11/2012 at 5:57 am

    You’re right On!

  9. Oh give me a break with this “biggest threat” and then blaming hate groups and terrorists.

Most people who are minorities aren’t being lynched and there aren’t people running around yelling allah akbar.

We have 300 million people in this country and you all cling to isolated incidents.

I don’t deny extremists but give me a break all of you. White hate groups and jihadists? Is this the world you live in? Everything is black and white to you. No wonder this country is falling apart.

The biggest threat to the United States is our debt!

When the riots start there won’t be any talk about which group is the worst and your own “group” will kill its own. America is screwing up America. We’re losing our freedom because lawmakers take away our freedom including Walsh.

The discussion on hate and tolerance has stalled because of a bunch of brain deads. All the politicians and you guys that are spoonfed by them make me sick.

Republicans are too stupid to convey a simple message of American values to black people and perhaps *some of them* are racist and don’t want to include them in their circles.

The Democrats just race bait constantly and if you don’t agree in racial quotas or affirmative action you’re a racist to them. Anytime their guy makes a gaffe that sounds racially insensitive the media doesn’t call them out on it.

Look at the words in that MUSLIM TERROR THREAT WORSE THAN 911 the only not sensational word is THAN and that’s because it’s used to compare something to 911! How is it worse than 911?

If it’s so bad than go get them. If you know of an attack than stop it.

I get two take home messages from this article.

    1) Maybe don’t use Muslim interchangeably with Jihadist or Terrorist.

2)Does he talk about the nut in Chicago? This is proof that terrorists CAN receive a regular trial by judge or jury (because they DO) and they can get convicted.

  10. The fact that we have to keep our eyes and CHECK BOOKS wide open so we can try to make sure we aren’t attacked by “ANY” sources, inclusive of the Drug Cartels, I guess some refuse to believe there is a real war being waged on our city streets every day….

To “Anon’s” point, of which has some validity…

Yes, debt is killing our nation because we are unable to just look the other way on the ‘threats’ from multiple sources, thus, these dollars cannot go into infrastructure we so desperately need to begin replacing, and upgrading for our future…

I want to nationwide fast rail system built… get all these cars off the roads, think outside the box on travel and safety.

So, it’s a causal affect. We can’t not spend the money to protect our nation, but our nation is failing because we have diverted resources which precludes us from rebuilding our country.

Joe might at times flame throw and cast a wide net, but the ‘intent’ of his concerns if looked at objectively, have merit.

Get our kids back home, shore up our own boarders, and let’s start protecting from within, and begin a massive rebuilding towards the future. That means jobs for two more generations….and if you look at ‘blue collar’ days, dads working along side their sons, ( and today can be daughters too) it makes this commenter proud of my forefathers.

But people, you have to get out and vote!! And we have to reject the press in it’s attempts to divert the issues that matter.

Joe is also a first term Congressman….I think if we give him some time to learn how to be a bit more ‘statesman like,’ (because that is what seems to matter to people, appearance over substance) I believe he is a voice of the every day ‘folks.’

For the record, I have never met Congressman Walsh… but I read Cal’s blog and follow national news. And I have very personal knowledge of security issues involving this nation.

  11. “Get our kids back home, shore up our own boarders, and let’s start protecting from within, and begin a massive rebuilding towards the future. That means jobs for two more generations….and if you look at ‘blue collar’ days, dads working along side their sons, ( and today can be daughters too) it makes this commenter proud of my forefathers. ”

But that’s not what Joe is talking about.

Joe supports all the wars and predator drone strikes in the Middle East.

He’d be the first to vote for force against Iran.

We can’t keep our troops there and bring them home.

As far as you wanting infrastructure goes, maybe you should vote for a Democrat.

The Tea Party hates that stuff.

  12. The drug cartels have power because of prohibition. What don’t all the small government people understand? These Tea Party people don’t care one lick for small government.

First of all, telling people what to put in their bodies is the biggest government intrusion imagineable.

Second, did you guys learn anything from prohibiton? Do you know how black markets work? Do you just throw more resources into a failing drug war?

    Look at Mexico.

    Strict drug laws.

    Strict gun laws.

    Not a safe place.

It’s a philosophy of “we have to keep people safe from themselves”.

It actually makes the problems worse.

What issues do you think will come up in the presidential debate? You think drones will come up? Drug decriminalization? Net neutrality? I guarantee there will be some blah blah fair taxes blah blah welfare. Who’s the better singer? Obama fo’ sho’!

  13. Anon….good thing you don’t reveal your name. Really?

“These Tea Party people don’t care one lick for small government.

  14. Where do I start with this one?

“These Tea Party people don’t care one lick for small government.”

First of all, telling people what to put in their bodies is the biggest government intrusion imagineable.

~My Response: Give me one example where Tea Party people are telling anyone what to put in their body. Michelle Obama has that honor.

Second, did you guys learn anything from prohibiton? Do you know how black markets work? Do you just throw more resources into a failing drug war?

    Look at Mexico.

    Strict drug laws.

    Strict gun laws.

    Not a safe place.

~My Response: Look no further than Chicago to prove stricter gun laws don’t work.

Give me one example of a Tea Party person wanting stricter gun laws?

We support the 2nd Amendment and less restrictions on gun laws.

Many of us are working to pass Conceal & Carry.

  15. An example of the first is any tea party member who supports the status quo on drugs.

    There are plenty.

If you’re a tea partyer and you’re against the status quo on drugs then maybe you are a consistent small government person.

If you think the government can tell you what you can or cannot put in your body you aren’t really a small government person

My second point about gun prohibition and drug prohibition I think we agree on I just don’t fit into your left right phony worldview.

I know about Chicago and that was precisely the point I was making.

The original tea party was started by Ron Paul and other libertarian minded people.

Neconservative fake libertarians like glenn beck hijacked it.

You are hoodwinked by the fox noise machine.
