  1. Don’t you think running as an Independent, you are going to attract people from both sides of the aisle?

Perhaps in Illinois we need to stop looking at the letter and start paying attention to the person.
Case in point, a local state legislative candidate has a great door spiel.

    He doesn’t talk about party.

When the homeowner asks “Well what party are you in” the individual says “you tell me”.

9 time out 10, people get it wrong.

As a society, we need to take our filters off if we want to move forward.

By the way older Americans are the worst by in large. They get it wrong at so many levels.

  2. LCTruth: Many people say they’re Independent, when actually they vote a party candidate, even though an “Independent” may be on the balot. I do agree, though, that party designation should not be the determining factor for support. Another In spite of your contention that “older Americans” are fumbling, confused, and unable of making an informed decision, I contend that many “older Americans” are your employers, mentors, counselors, leaders, perhaps, your parents, This
“older” population considers voting a privilege and proudly go to the polls on a regular basis.

P.S. How old are you LCT?

  3. Forgot to mention those who say they’re a “registered Republican” or registered Democrat”.

When you register to vote in Illinois, there is NO PARTY affiliation referenced, THESE are the people “getting it wrong” – they may mean that they have voted in partisan primaries, where you request a party ballot.
