Walsh Weekly Wrap-Up

An email from Congressman Joe Walsh:

Dear Friend,

As a reminder, my staff holds mobile office hours every Friday from 12:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. at the Schaumburg Township Center, located at One Illinois Blvd in Hoffman Estates.  If you cannot make it to one of my district offices, let us come to you!

On Thursday, the Inspector General’s (IG) office testified before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform after releasing its long-awaited report on Operation Fast & Furious.  The IG report brings to light what committee members have always suspected: the botched Operation Fast and Furious was a result of serious failures by leadership of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).  There is no doubt in my mind that lives in both Mexico and the United States were lost because too many people with ATF failed to do their jobs properly.

What bothers me most is Attorney General Eric Holder’s continued ability to deflect all responsibility.  It should have been the Attorney General who sought justice for Brian Terry’s murder, not the whistleblowers, and that is why I was one of the first Members to call for his resignation.  Holder was entrusted to oversee all operations of his department, and therefore he should be held accountable for his staff’s actions.

Rep. Walsh met with the Principal of Johnsburg High School, Kevin Shelton. Principal Shelton was named as the High School Principal of the Year by the Illinois Principal Association!

Finally, I send out these weekly newsletters because it is important to me to keep my constituents informed about the ways in which I am working for them. You can find an archive of past newsletters by clicking here. You can also find me on Facebook and Twitter.

I work for you,

Joe Walsh
