A press release from State Rep. Mike Tryon:

State Rep. Mike Tryon Receives Outstanding Environmental Leadership Award

CHICAGO….. State Representative Mike Tryon (R-Crystal Lake) received the Illinois Environmental Council’s Outstanding Environmental Leadership award at a dinner Sept. 20 in Chicago.

IEC Executive Director Jen Walling and Environment Illinois Program Director Max Muller present Representative Mike Tryon with the IEC 2012 Environmental Leadership Award.

The award, given to two of Illinois’ 118 State Representatives, recognizes those leaders whose work in Springfield and in their home districts best reflects a desire to promote environmental protection.

“It was an honor to receive this award,” said Tryon, who holds a degree in Environmental Science from Indiana State University.

“As a legislator and the Republican spokesperson for the Environmental Health and the Environment and Energy committees, I have worked hard to keep important environmental issues in the forefront in Illinois.”

According to Tryon, he was specifically recognized for work he did on a water quality bill that brought large Illinois farming operations into compliance with Federal clean water regulations.

“We worked for two years on that bill and we came to an agreement regarding costs and implementation of new procedures to protect Illinois’ rivers and streams.”

The Illinois Environmental Council promotes environmental laws and policies and encourages decision makers in the private sector to go beyond minimum standards to establish new environmental best practices. The group was founded in 1975.
