Here is some more information on the foundation of The Justin Schroeder Memorial Foundation, which is the fundraiser on 10/20/12:
The Justin Schroeder Memorial Foundation was established in October 2003 to honor the memory of Justin Schroeder through scholarships and contributions to youth educational and athletic programs.
Starting all over for not the first time is Luke Wajrowski at South High School’s St. Baldrick fund raiser.
Justin was an honor student at both Crystal Lake South High School and Marquette University, where he completed three semesters in Electrical Engineering.
He tragically died on April 9, 2003 in Memphis, Tennessee from injuries sustained in an auto accident as he and two friends returned from the NCAA basketball tournament in New Orleans.
To honor
- his scholastic achievements,
- his zest for life, and
- his love of learning,
Justin’s parents felt it was appropriate to create scholarship awards in his name to graduates of Crystal Lake South and to McHenry County students attending Marquette University’s School of Engineering.
In the past eight years the foundation has been able to award scholarships to thirteen young people. During 2005 the foundation initiated the Justin Schroeder Memorial Fund at Marquette, and it has created an endowed scholarship to the School of Engineering.
By May of next year the foundation will have assisted nine dedicated students in completing their undergraduate degrees, and they will be well on their way to becoming successful teachers, social workers, and engineers.
