Donna Kurtz Comes to Defense of Ersel Schuster and Diane Evertsen

Donna Kurtz

Donna Kurtz goes to the defense of conservative McHenry County Board members Ersel Schuster and Diane Evertsen against the attacks of Jack Franks’ union-backed Democrat Ryan Heuser in an open letter below:

OPEN LETTER

The recent attack hit pieces directed toward County Board members Diane Evertsen and Ersel Schuster was filled with so many absurd fabrications that I felt it needed to be addressed.

With that in mind I would like to provide my perspective of what I have observed of Mrs. Schuster and Mrs. Evertsen over the last two years that I have worked with them on the County Board.

They work hard, and do their homework. If that homework involves meeting and hearing out constituent concerns, or conducting research, or going to additional county board committee meetings, then that is what is done.

Diane Evertsen listens to arguments at a County Board meeting.

They have been tax fighters from the first moment they respectively stepped out on the board floor.

Their commitment to lower taxes stems from the principled approach that I have seen them take with every vote that they make as County Board members.

Ersel Schuster chairing the Management Services Committee, which pushed the County Board into providing more transparency.

Mrs. Schuster’s leadership on greater accountability for Board Members has been well documented. She advocated both a per diem per meeting and an attendance tracking system as a means to ensure that board members were being held accountable for doing their job.

Mrs. Schuster has actively engaged in ensuring funds for human services are appropriately spent for those with the greatest need.

Both ladies have led the fight for their constituents on issues such as Alden Road, Fleming Road, and open space.

There is no question that these ladies have demonstrated a commitment to serve our County without self-interest in the work they conduct, the votes they cast, and the people of McHenry County who they serve.

In closing, although we may not always agree on all the issues and votes, Mrs. Schuster and Mrs. Evertsen have established well-deserved reputations as

  • hard working,
  • straight talking, and
  • honest public servants

who have served District 6 well, and deserve to be re-elected.

If you know of voters in District 6 please pass this letter on to them.

Sincerely,

Donna Kurtz
County Board Member – District 2

  1. Thank you Donna . . . great minds do think alike. Politics in McHenry County can be, is, very dirty. I have lived in many Counties, what are these people trying to hide? I think they have a history of dirty laundry, and they do not want it to come to the surface.

  2. I am in total agreement with what Donna has said.

These ladies along with Donna deserve your vote.

Call any of them with a situation and they are on board and receptive.

These are the people to keep on the job.

  3. Ummm, no. I think ya’ll are missing the point here.

    Are these ladies nice, sure.

    Are they polite, you bet.

Do they enjoy their county board coffees, who wouldn’t.

But we are forgetting a few points here.

McHenry County taxes are WAY too high.

These member did not stand in the way of the Bianchi boondoggle.

These nice ladies are not conservative, they are liberal government spenders … as are all of the nice, polite, good board members.

We should be throwing them all out. Just sayin.

  4. How silly, don’t ya know that these ladies are posturing so that Tina Hill can be the next Board Chairman?

They want Koehler out and are supporting the Independent candidate Beaubien who is sponsored by Mike Madigan.

Beaubien has passed some of those same dollars on to Kurtz and Hill.

Now, Schuster and Evertsen will be beholden to Kurtz and Hill.

McHenry county politics is, indeed, dirty.

  5. Ersel and Diane must be doing something conservative and right if they’re being targeted by Jack Franks.

  6. Thanks, B, you make a great point. I know Diane and Ersel.

    They are VERY CONSERVATIVE.

Donna has some liberal views but works well with these ladies and has a lot of respect for them.

All 3 of them are very honest people.

  7. Diane Evertsen and Ersel Schuster are rock-solid conservatives who will never be beholden to anyone.

This last minute attack on them is a pathetic attempt to split the Republican vote.

I give it zero chance of working.

  8. @ watching: Look at your tax bill, dummy, 80% goes to schools and Valley Hi so the “Board” has no control over them.

@ sillybones: Your handle says it all.

@ shawn: you are absolutely correct.

@ donna: a terrific letter that is right on.

  9. Wow, because they are only wasting 20% of our property taxes, it’s okey dokey?

    weird.

(oh and duh, I didn’t know that.

You are so very smart and politically astute! ???)

  10. We have high taxes because we have allowed our local school boards to spend without control and certainly without proving any results.

This county board built the Taj mahal McHnery County Mental Health building and employ a small village of people serving only those with medicade.

They got millions and millions in grants that they just blew without accountability.

They served less than 1/2 the number of people they should have.

I am sorry but we need a new Board.

Tina Hill was a TYRON employee for many years.

I think the next time around we just need to have a new board

  11. I for one was disappointed to see my neighbor Donna Kurtz re-elected.

Her ambitions outweigh her good sense.
