Wonder Lake Man Makes Four Seeking Three MCC Board Slots

Twice during the last two weeks the Northwest Herald has highlighted the grossly excessive levy proposed by the McHenry County College Board majority.

William Scott Alford of Wonder Lake is the fourth candidate to file for one of the three seats up in the April, 2013, election.

“William Alfred” is listed as a Wonder Lake Fire Protection District fire fighter.

The other three are

  • Carol Larson, Harvard
  • Mike Smith, Village of Lakewood
  • Arne Waltmire, McHenry

Incumbents who voted to raise the tax levy by 9.9% could face an interesting re-election campaign.

  1. I am really angry about their intended increased levy.

    I take classes on campus(adult ed.)and thought that they did need an improved cafeteria.

    However, I see plenty of empty classrooms, etc. whenever I am there during the week day.

    I think that their new president is trying to make a “name” for herself.

    If they need room, then consider an off-campus site such as in Huntley near 47 and 90 or in Cosman Center.

    This is certainly not a good economy to push for new buildings and it appears that they are the only taxing body so far in the Huntley area who is asking for an increase.

    Kudos to the “Northwest Herald” for their articles and stance!
