I didn’t know that Cary politics were so rough and tumble.
Today someone sent me a copy of a hit piece from mayoral candidate Mark Kownick.
You can see it below:
Here’s the back side:
I have asked Kaplan if he would like to comment.

I noticed that the mailer used the Village Hall sign with some bad Photoshop work.
Isn’t it illegal to use Public property for campaign purposes?
I could be wrong, but I remember a hubbub with Nygren a few years ago.
I have never had a business transaction with Bruce Kaplan, however, I have observed his professionalism for more than 30 years and believe his integrity is beyond reproach.
Cary is fortunate to have Bruce giving of his time to be Mayor, I support him strongly.
Hey, Kownick voted for the appointment of Holly Kelps to the Cary Zoning Board a few years ago.
Would that be a conflict of interest for her?
So why did Mr. Kownick vote in favor of her appointment?
Holly Kelps was appointed to the Cary Board of Zoning, Planning and Appeals on 5/4/2010 by a unanimous vote which included Mark Kownick.
Guess where Mark Kownick’s campaign HQ is?!
Holly Kelps has donated her building at 22 High Rd. in Cary to Mark Kownick for his election headquarters since December.
She has it listed as for rent for $1500.00 per month. Here is a link to the listing sheet:

It also can be rented for $50.00 per hour through High Rd. Events. Here is that ad: http://www.myhighroadevents.com/Party_Planning.html
Please watch this video as Mark Kownick tries to explain a 16 YEAR mistake.

This is not like Mr. Kownick got hurt – lost his job – and lost his car.
This is a serious 16 year lapse.
Can anyone find Mr. Kownick’s filings with the Illinios Board of Elections?
I am pretty sure the law says that you have to file once you have more that $3,000 dollars in filings… does that include “in kind”?
Are these “Integrity Issues”?
Is there are “Conflict of Interest” between Ms. Holly Kelps and Mr. Kownick?
These are serious questions that need to be answered.
I don’t know either of the men, but Cowlick’s mudslinging is inexcusable.
Is there anyone who would doubt that Kaplan would recuse himself appropriately.
You can really tell how desperate people are, when they wait until the last week-end to sling mud.
I know both men and have been deeply, deeply disappointed in the behavior of Kownick and his campaign. I am glad to see Kaplan has taken the high road. Kownick keeps slamming Kaplan for conflict of interest, but isn’t the fact that Kownick owns a business in Cary also a conflict of interest? For me, the fact that Kownick has not ever presented a rational explanation as to why Cam Davis was allowed to quit and given a $100K severance package is the main reason he will not get my vote. I think Kierna is shady, and the board before Kaplan & Co. was shady too (hence the severance package). Kierna personally pushed Kownick to run for Mayor. Time to get rid of the Good Ol’ Boys Club. I am voting for Kaplan because I believe is is an honest, upstanding man.

Integrity, found the filing online.
I don’t know how this works, but if the committee had the use of the building since Jan 17, 2013, and the date of the filing is Mar 4,2013, he would have had at least $1500.00 in donated expense.
Problem is, they only claim $270.00.
Is this okay or not?

Interesting video……
