A press release from the Crystal Lake Police Department:
Solicitation of a Sexual Act Arrest
On Saturday, May 11th, 2013, at approximately 5:30pm, Crystal Lake Police responded to the 700 block of Coventry Lane for a report of a suspicious incident.
Upon arrival, responding officers spoke with the sixteen (16) year old male complainant.
The male juvenile reported he was walking on Coventry Lane when an elderly male, while operating a silver Hyundai Santa Fe, pulled over nearby.
The elderly male motioned for the male juvenile to approach the vehicle.
The juvenile walked over to the vehicle.
The elderly male then offered the male juvenile money to engage in a sexual act with him.
The male juvenile declined the offer.
John Giesing
The male juvenile recognized the elderly man as someone he recently encountered at a nearby home, 711 Coventry Lane, while attempting to sell newspaper subscriptions.
Crystal Lake officers proceeded to 711 Coventry Lane and met with an elderly male resident, identified as John Giesing (74 years of age).
John Giesing admitted he offered the victim money to perform a sexual act. He was arrested.
John Giesing* was charged with Solicitation of a Sexual Act, 720 Illinois Compiled Statutes, 5/11-14.1(b), a Class 4 Felony.
John Giesing was later transported the McHenry County Jail where he currently remains in custody, with his bond set at $15,000.00. His next court date is May 16th, 2013 at the McHenry County Courthouse.
