Fox River Grove Republican Precinct Committeeman Andrew Gasser was at mid-day the Public Health & Human Resources Committee meeting and wrote an article.

He ends his first paragraph with

“So much for transparency.”

Commenting on Crystal Lake City Councilman Jeff Thorsen’s nomination, he wrote,

“This is the second candidate put forward by the PH&HS Committee who has a strong business and financial background which is so desperately needed on the McHenry County Mental Health Board (McMHB).”

Read Gasser’s whole article, as well as McHenry County Blog’s, as well as Kevin Craver’s in the Northwest Herald.

Andrew Gasser’s Take on the Public Health Committee’s Nomination of Jeff Thorsen and Tina Hill’s Refusal to Let the Board Vote on His Nomination — 15 Comments

  1. This is outrageous and the fact that Koehler, Hill, and Martins made this meeting is on face value, a political block to keep any reform from happening on the Mental Health Board.

It’s time this person is impeached!

  2. When will you people wake up and see there is no change in dictatorship, just a different name. Hill

  3. One disgusting part of this charade is the conduct of Carolyn Schofield.

Donna Kurtz and Jeff Thorsen were early and vociferous supporters of Schofield’s.

Even knowing the outcome of Hill’s megalomania, she couldn’t cast a vote in their favor out of respect to them?

What kind of friend is that?

Does Hill rule the roost like Barack Hussein Milhous Obama that a token gesture can’t be made? Shame on Schofield and the power mad Hill.

Aside from that, Jeff was an even better choice than Scott Summers.

    Another loss for McHenry County.

    Best of luck, Jeff.

Crystal Lake still needs your services on the city council.

  4. “Barack Hussein Milhous Obama” – I LOVE IT!! Although I have a helluva lot more respect for Nixon than Obama.

Do members of the Mental Health Board receive any compensation?

Why has this become such an issue for the County Board and the Chairman?

Does the Mental Health Board handle SO MUCH money that somebody is looking to make sure it is funneled into a particular direction?

The fact that Ms. Salgado has served on the Public Health & Human Resources Committee while employed with Pioneer Center for the past 13 years does not seem like the “epitome” of a conflict, an opinion which the State’s Atty seems to share.

  5. What can I say? You guys above beat me to it! Demand Hill to
resign…… It is quite obvious she is unfit to govern.

  6. Hill is a power grabber which is why she was a poor choice for chairperson….now look what we are dealing with.

    More political crap.

    Great.d5kh

  7. Is the NWH holding back comments???

Could the new comment policy be set up to help the cronies and their campaigns??

No comments on the Hill article from yesterday.

Today the NWH is having a Zinke fest.

Will there be any comments that are anti Zinke posted??

    Strange?

  8. Yes the NWH is deleting some comments on this story.

It is ok though because people are noticing.

Kevin Craver is, as my son would say, “Doing Work”.

Maybe it isn’t as much as some of us would like, myself included, but the ball is being matriculated down the field.

There is a lot going on with the 708 board and it appears as though the Captain of the ship, or Chairwoman of the McHenry County Board, is putting politics before those with MI or DD.

We have not had a county board this poisonous in many years.

    WTG Tina, Mary, et al.

It is going to be rough sledding for incumbents next year.

Fortunately for you both, you have four year terms – your lieutenants will pay the price.

  9. To John O’Neill:

Maybe: Tina Barack Hussein Milhous Obam Hill?

  10. Obama said he would have the most transparent administration ever.

    Look at what is happening.

    Tina Hill made similar comments.

Just like Obama, she did not follow established Board rules when she appointed Committee Chairs.

This is not the first she has overruled Committee votes.

As reported on blogs, she was instrumental in approving Kohler’s son for some HOME money after the Housing Commission voted to deny the application.

Ultimately that not work out and the Kohler / Eldridge group appears to be dissolved.

Her administration will implode just like Obama’s.

It will be interesting to see who votes how, next week.

As to conflicts of interest, how about Gottemoler’s past ties to developers?

Yensen’s ties to United Way of Kane which works in conjunction with Senior Services for both McHenry and Kane?

Miller’s ties to Algonquin Twp. where is she an overpaid employee?

Will Miller recuse herself from ZBA votes which involve her daughter?

  11. Knowledge, wasn’t there a problem with Hill and some impropriety with petitions?

  12. I have not followed the whole Mental Health Board issue but I know Tina Hill and her excellent public service to this County.

She has served selflessly because she cares about helping people. Her own son uses the services of Pioneer Center.

Of course, she wants the MHB to run efficiently and ethically.

Four new Board members have been seated and to take a fresh look at what needs to be changed.

What you are all missing is that the current Health Board has over stepped their bounds by making a rather long list of mistakes.

The County Board has stepped up to provide a much needed infusion of general common sense and accountability for the current Mental Health Board.

Present the County Board with a candidate that passes muster with the County Board and this whole fiasco goes away.

Keep making the same bad choices over and over and the County Board is forced to step in and correct the errant and self-serving thinking that seems to have infected the County Mental Health Board unilaterally.

If there is anyone on the CMHB that can make a sound decision, they are sure keeping their heads down.

The comments coming from Michael Walkup that she is a Nazi Dictator that doesn’t care about the killing of our heroin addicted children is abominable but is perfectly understandable, but not at all acceptable, coming from someone struggling to establish some sort of political relevance and not doing a very admirable job by the way.

To connect the horrific Holocaust to a County Board member is unconscionable as well as unprofessional. Then again, all one has to do is consider the source of this asinine comment and you quickly understand.

This is one of the primary reasons I consider Walkup a carbuncle on McHenry County’s backside that persists despite any and all prophylactic measures.

For Donna Kurtz to imply this is a political move on Hill’s part is also unconscionable yet quite understandable coming from someone who is unmistakably in over her head.

Consider that she is the one who could not deliver a candidate and took those appointments into Executive Session to avoid the transparency she preaches to provide.

The good people of Woodstock and District 5 know the real Tina Hill and would return her to office to represent us anytime.

For you naysayers, let me ask you: have you ever met her or talked to her?

Or possibly you are too busy campaigning for legal use of marijuana because you aren’t feeble minded enough already?

I doubt Hill’s political career is in as much jeopardy as the comments in this blog indicate.

Perhaps they preferred the reign of tyranny and self-serving antics of her predecessor.

Makes me wonder how many of these bloggers actually vote in the various elections.

It seems that the problems we face with ineffective/corrupt/inept/incompetent government is due to the lack of the general public actually getting familiar with what is going on (or not), what/who the candidates actually represent, and what the best course of action is.

I submit that we are in the current government jackpot from the Federal level down is due almost entirely to the following reasons:

    1. We don’t have enough politicians who are truly dedicated to trying to do the right thing for the right reasons without being overburdened by thoughts of grandeur and reelection

    2. The true majority of level headed and intelligent voters refrain from voting because of disgust for the candidates and are tired of voting for the lessor of 2 evils

    3. Actual voters today are inappropriately motivated by what they can get for free in today’s society of ever increasing entitlements. Why should they vote for someone who hasn’t unilaterally promised to take care of the lazy if they vote for them?

Personally, the comments above are characteristic of uninformed individuals who aren’t beleaguered with the savage effects of intelligence or command of all the facts surrounding an issue.

BTW Buster, DAMs leak not DAMNs.

I challenge all of you readers, bloggers, lurkers, whatever, to wake up and realize that not everyone is in politics for personal gain in whatever form that assumes.

We don’t need career politicians but people that are trying to do the right thing for as many people as possible.

Hill is not in this to create a power base from which to create outcomes suitable for her own welfare.

She is trying to do the best she can with the tools available and as straightforward and ethical manner as possible.

If you can’t see and understand that concept, you woefully misguided and misinformed.

What I find really scary is that these are probably most of the people that installed our current Congressional and Executive branches.
