The County Board’s Public Health & Human Resources Committee, chaired by Donna Kurtz, voted to recommend Crystal Lake City Councilman Jeff Thorsen, but, immediately thereafter Hill said that she would not put Thorsen’s to a vote before the County Board.

Thorsen is a finance guy.

He is a banker who has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

Ferguson is a counselor who handles drug abuse, among other problems.

She talked a little about that when she voiced her opposition to decriminalizing marijuana in Crystal Lake (giving tickets where the city would get the money, rather than running criminal cases through the court system in which the city does not benefit financially.)

She said she thought the issue was important because marijuana was a gateway drug.

  1. Is Hill trying to run mchenry like the dictator in the white house is doing to the country or is she just a mouthpiece for the previous dictator. Is her title in name only?

  2. Hill is stacking the board for her own ends.

    Zorro is correct.

We are seeing “Chicago style politics” in action and it must stop!

  3. The problem with Ms. Ferguson is that she does not have the proper background.

  4. Ferguson’s background is laudable, but she lacks the administrative experience that Thorsen and Summers have.

Ironically, Cathy Ferguson’s view on Crystal Lake’s move to decriminalize marijuana is to oppose it and Jeff’s was in support.

  5. Was Koehler ‘damaged goods’ and needed to step back for a term as advised by Tryon / Jordan and company?

Was Hill put forward as the ‘willing dupe’ to get Koehler off the front page for while?

The ‘willing dupe’ who participated in an illegal meeting and helped Tryon stack the deck to stop the Franklin run at Franks by having her entire family appointed as committeemen temporarily?

  6. So what is she? A counselor?

    A family therapist?

    A city council member?

For gods sake can’t anyone see that we need someone with management expertise.

First the County Board says we need ” fiscal/administrative” person and now it’s someone who is ” sensitive to mental health”.

Would you let a line staff run your business?

By virtue of their willingness to sit on the Mental Health Board suggest a sensitivity to mental health issue by virtue of its mission.

The responsibility of a board member suggests a “skill set” beyond a counselor level.

All of this is bunk, pure and simple.
