  1. June 17th was last week, and it was a Monday. July 17th is a Wednesday. I’m confused.

  2. “Learn What Happened in Springfield Thursday at County Board’s Legislative Committee”…..AS INEPT AS THIS BOARD IS…..Do we really care? ’cause they don’t.

Besides, we have the diatribes by Althoff and Tryon, so who could ask for more?

  3. What does this blog think about limiting the number of county board seats to one per district?

We have 24 members, Lake County has 21.

We have 4 per district, Lake County have 1.

We have 308k citizens, Lake County has 706k.

Lake has 13 members $44,074; the other eight are paid $40,945 per year.

We have 24 members making $19,755 or $20,181 depending on when they were elected and a Vice Chairman making $24,755 and Chairman making $79,063.

    Are my numbers looking off?

  4. If there were fewer board members, they would raise their salaries, as they have in other counties.

  5. Forget the salary… look at the full package- Pension, Healthcare, Mileage…. Yep that is your county board…. now look at how many have family on the government dole…
Tell me again how concerned they are for the welfare of the taxpayers…

  6. And Cal, you are probably right, but how much more work would they be doing? With healthcare, pension, gas reimbursement, and salary, they are getting a pretty sweet deal for a part time job?!?!

  7. Heard during the last board meeting a discussion about the start time for a HR meeting. Discussion was initiated by the Chairman of that committee needing the meeting to start earlier because she had a job to go to. Why do people run for office when they cannot fulfill the commitment to the residents with unrestricted hours? Was not aware that an elected position should be based on the availability of the person who holds office.
