Crystal Lake is rising and the following press release from Lakewood Police Chief Lawrence Howell reports that wakes will not be allowed until its level gets lower:
Wake Hours Suspended on Crystal Lake
Effective immediately, the Village of Lakewood and the City of Crystal Lake have officially suspended wake hours on Crystal Lake. The suspension of wake hours will remain in effect until further notice and will be strictly enforced.
The water level in Crystal Lake has been monitored closely by the Lakewood Police Department since the storm event earlier this week and, as of 9:00 a.m. today, it exceeds the nine inch (9”) threshold established by Ordinance.
Official notices have been posted on all private beaches and public entrances to Crystal Lake.
Once the lake level falls below the nine inch (9”) threshold established by Ordinance, the suspension will be lifted and regular wake hours will be reestablished. Should you have any further questions, please call the Lakewood Police Department at (815) 459-2151.
