Harvard, Illinois, July 30, 2013 – Harvard attorney and Greenwood 4 Republican Precinct Committeeman Steven Reick announced today that he is running for the Illinois General Assembly in District 63.

The seat is currently held by Democrat Jack Franks, an 8-term incumbent.

“Jack Franks tells us how he’s fought the special interests in Springfield and stood up for the values of the people of McHenry County, yet has voted 8 times for Mike Madigan as Speaker of the Illinois House,” Reick said.

“He’s been unwilling or unable to resist the one special interest that Illinois can no longer afford.”

If elected, Reick’s major issues are pension reform, the elimination of the Common Core Standards of curriculum now being taught in our schools, as well as Medicaid and tax reform.

“Jobs are the common thread that tie all of these issues together; how the State handles these issues will determine Illinois’ future,” Reick observed.

“The people of Illinois are going on strike.

“They aren’t picketing or making demands, they’re leaving the state.

“The powers that be in Springfield can make their lives miserable, but they cannot make them stay.

“The responsibility falls squarely on the Madigan machine and those, like Jack Franks, who enable it with their votes.”

Reick, 60, and his wife Deb moved to McHenry County in 1983 and live in rural Harvard.

He’s been a tax attorney in sole practice for over 30 years.

He has 3 children and 4 grandchildren.
