Patch Reports on South High School Bleacher Fight

Crystal Lake Patch Editor Stephanie Price writes of the latest court hearing about High School District 155’s erection of tall stadium seating at South High School.

The big news in this first hearing before Judge Michael Chmiel is that the school district may challenge the reasonableness of the Crystal Lake City Zoning Ordinance.

Patch Reports on South High School Bleacher Fight — 6 Comments

  1. Meaning the district is doing everything they can do to prolong this instead of working with the city like they have always done in the past under the previous superintendent.

Also means that they plan on doing something like this again to other schools which is why they want to challenge it.

I hear that Central is the next school to get these new enormous bleachers.

    Beware neighbors.

  2. South High School has destroyed the value of the homes bordering the new bleachers.

How construction ever got so far along without a squawk is unbelievable.

The only worthwhile use for the property containing the homes now is to tear down the houses and make a park.

South H.S. should pay for the entire loss to the property owners.

  3. Why did Mr. Bianchi not complain when the previous bleachers were there on the school’s ground? I have to assume the house he rented out been his for some time?

Is it possible that the McHenry County Stat’s Attorney Bianchi running Crystal Lake’s Mayor Shepley as a patsy to gain a few dollars by squeezing the local Crystal Lake High School District D-155?

The distance to the property line appear to be shorted a few feet.

However, why have we not seen a picture from Google Earth that shows the actual distance from above at the 1200 block of Amberwood, rather than seeing photos taken with telephoto lenses, which we all know significantly compresses and distort the distance and object?

Both Mr. Lou Bianchi, the County State’s Attorney and Mr. Aaron Shepley, Mayor of Crystal Lake should keep in mind that messing with us the football’s fans in Crystal Lake or elsewhere is like messing with goodliness.

What I have read so far about Mr. Bianchi is that he appears to be a vindictive little man who maybe should retire before other issues may gum up his reelection campaign by irritating more of us voters and football fans.

Mr. Shepley may also find that the taxpayer could find it a unnecessary to waste of money to have the court settled an issue that most like been challenged many times by local municipal entities against the State of Illinois in this matter of control of school properties anywhere in the State.

  4. The photos published on McHenry County Blog were taken with a regular lens.

  5. Why are they allowing students/people & small children on the bleachers when they are still under construction?

Weren’t they suppose to have an inspection before anyone was allowed on them?

Apparently the safety of students, etc. is not foremost in the minds of the district.
