Mental Health Board Seeks Attorney Applications

Lawyers probably don’t read the RFP (Request for Proposal) section on the McHenry County Mental Health Board web site.

Appearing recently is an opportunity for attorneys to apply to be the 708 Board’s attorney.

What’s being sought?

“The McHenry County Mental Health Board (MHB) is requesting proposals from qualified firms for legal consultation and representation with the understanding that the MHB Board Members are responsible for the hiring and maintaining of legal services from the firm that is selected. Thus, the selected firm will work at the pleasure of the board, though day-to-day requests may be requested by the MHB Executive Director.”

Those interested can find the details here.

Proposals are due and will be opened September 27th at 3 PM. Interviews will occur from Sept. 30th through Oct. 31st. Selection is scheduled from Nov. 1st.

Lawyers are referred to as “vendors” in what appears to be a boiler plate RFP document.

Billing methodology is one of the items requested.

Having spent more of my life’s earnings on attorneys than I wanted to, I remember being billed in six-minute increments, that tenths of an hour.

Some local governments allowing the minimum billing period to be 15 minutes, which would appear to allow over billing on most phone calls.
