Obamacare 30 Hour a Week Threshold

The rules under Obamacare provide that if someone works more than 30 hours a week, he or she must be given health insurance.

If the employer does not do so, there are draconian fines.

That’s what I’ve been hearing at McHenry County College Board meetings as the Board considers various strategies to avoid the penalties.

These discussions have centered around the adjunct faculty, the part-time teachers at MCC, some of whom teach virtually a full load and get paid a pittance of what full-timers earn.

So, it was with some interest that I looked at the headline in the Chicago Sunday Sun-Times.

It appears private enterprise is dealing with the situation differently than McHenry County College.
