Most local media don’t give him the time of day, but State Rep. Tim Schmitz (R-St. Charles) has a district that comes into McHenry County.

Today the Daily Herald is reporting that he is retiring from the office he entered in 1999.  When Tom Cross became Republican Leader, Schmitz joined his leadership team.  Schmitz worked for the House Republican staff before running for the Illinois House.  He was a Batavia Alderman from 1995-99.

His father, longtime Batavia Alderman Tom Schmitz, died this summer, the DH reports.

Schmitz has worked for the Batavia Fire Department as an on-call basis for twenty-nine years and has been involved in land development.

When the Democrats sliced and diced McHenry County, part of the Huntley area went into District 65.

There’s not much of District 65 in McHenry County, just six Grafton Township precincts–Grafton 9, 15, 22, 26, 27 and 29.  Only one has an elected Republican Precinct Committeeman.  That’s Linda Moore in Grafton 26, a high turnout precinct.

The Sun City development inclusion in the 65th District guarantees that prospective replacements will be seen in the area.
