Republican candidate for governor Bruce Rauner issued the following statement regarding Judge Neil Cohen’s ruling that Illinois must pay lawmakers:

“When Pat Quinn suspended legislators pay I called it ‘just another political stunt.’ More than two months later, the pension system is still broken.

“We don’t need any more political stunts.

“We need a leader who is willing to take on the government union bosses and special interests that control Springfield, and the crowd in charge now refuses to do it. I’ll get the job done.”

  1. The trouble with the statement “We need a leader who is willing to take on the government union bosses and special interests that control Springfield, and the crowd in charge now refuses to do it. I’ll get the job done” is that every candidate says this but nothing really ever changes.

Bruce may be a true leader, I hope so…. we need one badly!

  2. Not so sure I’d want someone from a Private Equity firm, that uses a lot of Public Pension Funds for finance, in charge of State business.

I would think there would be too much temptation, for maybe some old pals in the trade, to get him into some kind of mischief.

Seeing this post though, did remind me that I want to re-read the best book ever written about business, Barbarians at the Gate.
