A press release from the Crystal Lake Police Department:

Subject Stabbed in Crystal Lake Altercation – Suspect in Custody

200 block of Uteg Court.

On Friday, September 27th, 2013 at approximately 10:22 PM, Crystal Lake Police Officers responded to the residential area of the 200 block of Uteg Street, to a report of a fight in progress.

Upon arrival officers located several subjects, including a juvenile male, whom had been stabbed in the back during the altercation.

The offenders had fled the area prior to the arrival of police. The injured subject was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he was treated and released.

An investigation into this matter ensued, in which a suspect was developed.

Tyler Sharbaugh

On Saturday, September 28th, 2013 at approximately 6:00 PM, Crystal Lake Police arrested Tyler J. Sharbaugh (18) of Crystal Lake on a charge of Aggravated Battery (with a deadly weapon) 720 Illinois Compiled Statutes 5/12-3.05(f)(1), a class 3 felony.

A search warrant was served simultaneously at the residence of this suspect.

Sharbaugh was transferred to the McHenry County Jail, where he was detained for a bond hearing. Bond was set September 30th at $10,000.

Investigation into this matter continues, with the identity of additional suspects known.

Additional charges and arrests are expected.
