South High School Student Injured in Homecoming Parade

Crystal Lake – Subject Injured During High School Homecoming Parade

On Friday, October 11, 2013 at approximately 4:00PM, a juvenile student was struck and injured by a moving float during a homecoming parade for the Crystal Lake South High School. Crystal Lake Police officers were in the area directing traffic for the parade, when alerted to the incident.

In summary, the injured subject, a student of the school, had attempted to board a small utility trailer that was being towed by a sport utility vehicle.

The trailer was being utilized as a float entry in the parade, and was used to transport participating members of the homecoming activities.

As the student attempted to board the float, their foot became entangled with a moving wheel and the ground, and subsequently the wheel rolled over the student’s foot and lower leg.

Crystal Lake Fire Rescue was summoned to the scene and transported the injured student to Centegra Hospital-Woodstock, where they were treated and released.

This matter remains under investigation by the Crystal Lake Police Department.

No citations or charges have been filed in this incident, at this time.
