[In his comments below, Flavin says that he is a Republican and that he mistakenly thought the Circuit Clerk was on the ballot this year…just as I did. It is two years from now.]

  1. Circuit Clerk isn’t up for election next year, Cal. It’s up in 2016.

Flavin told me Friday he made a mistake.

  2. Dear Cal,

While I am under the weather today, I went to court and heard about this article. If you wish to publish articles about me, I would ask that you make a phone call to confirm them first. My phone is answered 24 hours a day at (815)334-9004, and I don’t believe that you could find one person that I didn’t return a call within an hour or two.

Kevin called me about the petitions and I told him that I was not running, some people who it turned out were misinformed told me that they would like me to run for Circuit Clerk. My intention was to get the petitions and hand the petitions to them and tell them that I needed over 500 signatures to get on the ballot. I didn’t even consider if the position was up for election, I assumed that they knew. It turns out I was wrong.

  3. Lastly, Cal, if you would have called I would have given you a better picture and told you that if I ran it would be as a Republican.
