Tryon Seeks Illinois Health Insurance Cancellation Data

A press release from State Rep. Mike Tryon:

Tryon Co-Sponsors Legislation Demanding Full Disclosure of ACA-Related Health Plan Cancellations in Illinois

SPRINGFIELD…..Concerned about the negative fallout the Affordable Care Act is having on the citizens of McHenry and Kane Counties, State Representative Mike Tryon (R-Crystal Lake) has signed on as a co-sponsor of a resolution which asks for full public disclosure of State data regarding the number of Illinoisans whose current health insurance plans will be cancelled as a result of the ACA as well as information about the number of people who have successfully obtained new plans through the Illinois Health Insurance Marketplace.

Several of the sponsors and co-sponsors of House Resolution 680 held a press conference on Thursday morning, and Tryon said he is very concerned about the lack of information being shared about the consequences associated with the rollout of the ACA.

“This is a very serious problem,” said Tryon.

“Legislators across the state are hearing from constituents who have significant medical needs and they are receiving notices in the mail that the health insurance they rely upon is being cancelled.

“For individuals dealing with major illnesses, the possibility of not having health insurance is frightening.

“The Illinois Department of Insurance needs to fully disclose the magnitude of the problem so that legislators can respond.”

According to Tryon, by filing HR 680 legislators are simply trying to gather necessary information so that Illinois lawmakers can ensure that their constituents do not find themselves without coverage.

“We’re finding that the implementation phase of the ACA is filled with unanticipated problems and consequences.

“I fear that rather than creating a situation where more people have access to health insurance, the opposite may occur and we will have more families with no coverage at all.”

HR 680 has been filed with the House Clerk and will be added to the House Calendar Order of Resolutions for consideration by the full House of Representatives.

  1. “I fear that rather than creating a situation where more people have access to health insurance, the opposite may occur and we will have more families with no coverage at all.”

It’s about time you jumped on the band wagon Mr. Tryon.

You’re a little late since this is now really old news.

Glad you’re on top of the issues!

  2. Repubs have received, what will arguably be the biggest political gift in history with Obamacare. But they just can’t help themselves, from sticking their ego’s into the fray, instead of just sitting back and watching this Dem. scheme implode.

  3. Why do they keep calling it affordable care act? The correct name should be unaffordable care act.
