A friend of McHenry County Blog pointed me to survey results regarding how people surveyed by the Village of Huntley get their news.
Turns out that fewer people are reading newspapers and blogs than were doing so last year.
Take a look at the statistics:
Village of Huntley Resident Survey 2013
Methodology
The Village of Huntley conducted an online only survey to obtain residents opinions on 40 questions.
The survey, conducted from September 22 to October 7, 2013 matches the duration and timing of the survey conducted in 2012. Additionally, the same 40 questions were asked in both 2012 and 2013.
Residents were made aware of the survey through notification on Huntley’s website (www.huntley.il.us) and in Huntley electronic enews and printed Village Journal included in residents’ water bills.
Results Overview
The number of responses in both years was similar with slightly fewer respondents in 2013 compared to 2012:
In both years, Sun City residents (which comprise approximately 40% of the Village’s population) represented the greatest number of respondents compared to any other neighborhood.
Sun City residents represented 62% of total respondents.
The city officials analyzing the survey cited this as a key finding:
Among the most notable results, one of the survey’s greatest changes indicated a large increase in the frequency with which respondents conduct their PRIMARY shopping in Huntley. In 2013, 51% of respondents indicated that they now conduct their primary shopping activities in Huntley, up from 26% in 2012.
Quality of life is up, according to the survey.
People taking part in the survey think the town looks better, too.
Only 5% considered the performance of village employees “poor” or “below average.”
Most people in town feel safe.
The Mayor and Trustees got passing grades in the survey.
