McSweeney Endorses Kurtz

When Dee Beaubien announced in Barrington that she was going to run as an Independent against Republican Primary Election winner David McSweeney, the MC was McHenry County Board member Donna Kurtz.

She said, “Good government is not based on parties.”

For her role in Beaubien’s campaign, McHenry County Republican Party Chairman Mike Tryon stripped Kurtz of his appointment as a Republican Precinct Committeeman in a precinct that was not in the contested 52nd District.

It’s now a year and a half later.

Donna Kurtz had her Lou Malnati’s pizza fundraiser this week and

McSweeney attended the event, where he endorse Kurtz for County Board.

“It is my honor to be here today to endorse Donna Kurtz,” he said.

He expounded a bit on how Democrats want to make the top income tax rate in Illinois 11%–more than double the current temporary 5% level–and pointed out that the Dems increased government spending by $2 billion last year.

McSweeney referenced his legislation to help keep a limit on property taxes by making it easier to force a referendum on the alternative bonds with which “a prior administration” (Lakewood Village President Erin Smith introduced him) financed the Lakewood Golf Course.

“We need to cut spending at all levels of government,” he stated.

Concluding, McSweeney honed in on the theme of the Kurtz fundraiser–“A Wonderful Life”–said,

“Imagine what would have happened if Donna hadn’t been in McHenry County.”

The only other candidate McSweeney has endorsed is District 1 County Board candidate Andrew Gasser.
