What Huntley Residents Wanted Officials to Know – 2

The survey that the Village of Huntley took had pages of citizen comments. Taken as a whole, they give an intriguing picture of what people think. 62% of those who took the survey were from Sun City, so keep that in mind.

keep up the good work!

Your police dept is a joke. Just dealt with a BS ticket and couldn’t even find a seat in the court room from all the other BS ticket holders. Looks like the town is broke the way your police are writing tickets. Which I’m wondering how they have time to do so since they are always in the Walgreens hitting on the cute polish checkout girl.

Please enforce the no parking over sidewalks Living on the Northwest side of Sun City would like to see a bridge over creek for walking to the Princeton street businesses.

Love the farmer’s market! Although sad to see some vendors couldn’t be there since some their items weren’t from the immediate area. Love the Santa parade and event too. I loved it when we got to go through the older homes several years ago.

I love living in Huntley. It may be small but has so much to offer the community.

Need a more stander speed limit to much up and down Huntley High School traffic very fast Thru Sun city. Post
signs, Speed limits enforced coming in from I

47 and also at Hemmer. (Sun City residence also need to comply with speed limits}.

I live in Sun City and would like love to have garbage recycling bins on wheels like all other suburbs We now have small bins which allow the recycling contents to blow around and become wet when raining and snowing. I always have much more recycling material than actual garbage.

I don’t think it’s worth putting big money into “downtown”. It’s pretty much a lost cause without tearing down and starting over. Just focus on Rt 47 and getting rid of the old junky bldgs along there. Concentrate on quality development (stores & restaurants). I’m not impressed with what’s been brought in so far. Re: #35.

enough options nearby.

The Village board meeting should be a night NOT in conflict with school district 158.

Need to put up street lights either new poles or on the Com ed poles north of Algonquin Rd. This looks like we don’t care about this end of town. Need to get more business in this area.

I strongly support historic restoration and historically appropriate development in downtown Huntley. Let’s work to balance all the new development and give people a reason to come to Huntley. I don’t like the strip mall development along route 47 because it mimics other towns, lacks character and architectural inte
rest. I support small business.

Bus service is my main concern. There is nothing available here and people can not be independent with it.

How people feel about bus and van service.

How people feel about bus and van service.

More people would move here if some sort of public transportation were available. I work at Deer Path and I know our number reason for not getting people to move in is always transportation.

Fire Dept is outstanding, the Library is doing it’s best without expanding and the park district offers many
opportunities for all ages. Love living here!

Great Village, glad we moved here.

Please alter the timing of the lights at Main St. and Rt. 47. Main St. seems much to short most of the time, but not always. Does the timing change through out the day or week?

Downtown Huntley looks bad–old doesn’t mean good. Need some family restaurants younger than 80 years old.
Need a new post office with some parking and better employees. Don’t waste money on bike/walking paths.

DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY YOU ASKED QUESTION #16 ABOUT GARBAGE COLLECTION IN SUN CITY WHEN THE VILLAGE OF HUNTLEY DOES NOT PROVIDE THAT SERVICE.

Downtown is old and has a poor image. Existing business will not do well if new and competitve bussiness is
brought in. Exisiting stores and resturants are in poor shape and only survive because people may not want to drive to Randall Road. Do you really need a survey to know this!

More tomorrow.
