Sheriff Has No Policy about Who Can Fill Up at County Expense

There have been reports that vehicle appearing not to be owned by McHenry County have been filling their tanks at the Sheriff’s Department filling station.

I decided to ask if there were any policy concerning fill-ups:

“Under the FOIA, I request a copy of your Department’s policy for allowing private vehicles to fill their tanks from the Department’s gasoline pumps.”

Here is the reply:

“We have no documents responsive to your request.”

  1. “Under the FOIA, I request a copy of your Department’s policy for allowing private vehicles to fill their tanks from the Department’s gasoline pumps.”

    Here is the reply:

“We have no documents responsive to your request.”

You specifically asked them for copies of a policy WHICH ALLOW FOR PRIVATE [LY OWNED] vehicles to fill their tanks…

Since they don’t have one, you create a headline to infer that they do.

    Yellow Journalism at its best.

    What’s next?

“Do you still beat your wife?”

  2. To operate the pump you need a gas key so I seriously doubt anyone is getting free gas.

The problem I see is CIVILIAN personnel with county provided cars.

Why does the non sworn office girl need a free ride…..WHY?

  3. Dear God man, this is juvenile journalism Cal.

Why don’t you report about the failed Bill Who fundraiser on November 21 at Marzano’s with special guest Paul Scharff?

It was a destructive embarrassing laughable event, a complete disaster!

  4. I do not call 90 people a failure fuk.

It was a local McHenry event with lots of new faces.

6 people at your 2 tails deal was a success???

The picture of that one speaks volumes.

You keep trying to throw out more dud bombs.

You saying so, does not make it true.

  5. The title of this post should be: “Sheriff Department doesn’t waste time and taxpayer money to explain to Cal Skinner that private vehicles do not fill up on the county expense.”

    Still waiting on those ‘reports.’

  6. Good response, Fairplay. I

fail to see how this “news” event has become a story, even for Cal.

What or why did this even come up?

Gus whinning because he can’t get close to the garage?

  7. Why is it that every Sheriff’s election has a small group of disgruntled people degradating the current Sheriff and his Under Sheriff?

This happened when Hank Nulle, George Hendle and Bill Mullin were Sheriff before Keith Nygren.

Now Nygren and his Under Sheriff have to put up with the same nonsense.

We have and have had one of the finest Sheriff’s Departments in the State.

Zinke will have virtually total support of local elected officials and the chiefs of police.

    Enough said.

  8. Why does Candidate Prim have such strong support from the gravel and road builders industry?

You have to be pretty stupid not to notice.

Does it have to do with overweight issues?

  9. Fred, do you work for Harrison?

@AZSupporter – THANK YOU! 🙂 This is a load of crap.

  10. There won’t be a “policy” at MCSD that allows illegal activity.

If they are going to allow it, even those in charge are smart enough not to put it in writing. (There. Now who can say I don’t say something nice about MCSD.)

Who knows about unauthorized fuel dispensing, if it is happening?

Jim B. wrote that degrading MCSD happens (only) at election time.

Where has he been for the past 6-7 years?

It happens all the time, and for good reason.

MCSD may be one of the finest sheriff’s departments in Illinois.

If it is, it’s due to the employees.

  11. Fred – why don’t you look at the trucking companies supporting Zinke?

    The heavy equipment operators union.

How about the business that do a lot of trucking.

    Same MO as Nygren.

    WAKE UP.

  12. Zinke stopped truck enforcement in western Mchenry co.

The truck enforcement deputy has been given “OTHER” duties to keep him off truck.

Don’t want to piss off the trucking and farm industry.

How about letting overweight truck come the back raids to DEAN ‘S in Chemung to allow easy access and avoid the Rte 14 scale.

Zinke does not deserve to be Sheriff.

This would be just the tip of the iceberg of favoritism toward contributors.

  13. OK. I’ll ask for any policy which prohibits the dispensing of motor fuel to privately owned vehicles.
