Former McHenry County Board member Kathy Bergan Schmidt (D3) will join incumbents Paula Yensen (D-5) and Nick Chirikos (D-1) in seeking election to the Republican-dominated body next year.

Schmidt was defeated for re-election after re-apportionment in the 2012 elections.

Judi Szilak took out petitions for County Clerk, but did not file them. She writes that she still hopes to be slated by the Democratic Party Central Committee.

If she does, the same number of signatures will still have to be collected to get on the fall ballot.
