The Alliance for Land, Agriculture and Water was formed in 2005 “to defeat a destructive, environmentally unsustainable McHenry County, Illinois, 2020 Land Use plan.” In the spring of 2007, the group petitioned for a referendum to establish a Kishwaukee Valley Water Authority. The referendum failed, but the campaign raised awareness of the water problem McHenry County has. (We will never get Lake Michigan water, for instance.)
ALAW did not disband.
In the 2010 and 2012 elections it asked candidates to answer questionnaires and made endorsements.
It has also been active in the Alden and Fleming Road controversies.
Below is this year’s attempt to allow voters to determine whether candidates have conflicts of interest. It was sent to all County Board candidates, as well as to those running for County Clerk, Sheriff and Treasurer.
This is not the official form you will be required to file with the county clerk if you are elected. This is ALAW asking you to disclose the interests below in advance as your commitment to transparency as a candidate. Please return via email to ALAW at firstname.lastname@example.org or PO Box 1021, Woodstock, IL 60098; do not send to the County Clerk. Thank You.
