You first need to download free Kindle for PC software directly from Amazon.com if you are using a desktop or laptop PC.
After downloading software, you then use the Kindle reader to search & download the free book.
Just google search amazon free kindle reader PC.
For securiry, make sure to only download from Amazon.com, not a 3rd party website.
On a smartphone or tablet you would need to get kindle app from apple store or google play store.
Kindle is great.
Easier to read with larger lettering & backlighting.
A LOT cheaper than books.
Can take it anywhere on phone & mobile devices.
Green.
And no boxes of books in basement.
