NW Herald Endorses Jung, Rein in District 5, Aavang, Schuster in District 6

Candidates from McHenry County Board Districts 4, 5 and 6 will answer questions at McHenry County College tonight starting at 6.

District 6 is the big one on the west side of the county.  District 5 runs from the Woodstock area to the Kane County line south of Huntley.

The Northwest Herald completed its endorsements for McHenry County Board today.

In District 5, incumbent Republican John Jung and last election’s primary winner Michael Rein, who lost to Democrat Paula Yensen, were endorsed.  Zane Seipler, who ran against Sheriff Keith Nygren in 2010 and who is suing Nygren for wrongful termination, was not.

Jung’s experience on the Board won him the nod.

Both Jung and Rein stressed cutting expenses, while Seipler made “transparency and accountability in county government…his top priority.”

In District 6 the two incumbents–Michele Aavang and Ersel Schuster–were the Northwest Herald’s choice.

Schuster was cited for her “institutional knowledge,” while thinks the county tax levy should continue to be frozen.

No comment is made about Smith other than he is a real estate broker and farmer.
