County Board Candidates Give Speeches Tonight at MCC

MCC Entrance from NW snowStarting at 6:30 tonight at McHenry County College in Room A240, which is said to be on the north side of the building.

I’ve heard each County Board candidate will be allowed to give a two-minute speech with no questions allowed.

If my information is correct, it will probably be a pretty boring event.

In any event, I’ll be there to take notes.

= = = = =
There were questions and it was not boring.

I’m glad my expectations were exceeded.

I’me going to write a story tomorrow.

  1. There were two candidates missing in action-no shows.

If they can’t show up to show us why they should be elected, they’re clearly not up for the job.

However, the two derelict candidates not being there left a little extra time for more questions but the “League of Womens Voters” cut the meeting short, not answering some of our questions that had been turned in.

    VERY POORLY DONE “LADIES”.

I stood up and requested that our questions be addressed.

The guy keeping time said “ask your questions privately, we’ve been here long enough”.

    WHAT AN ATTITUDE!

I claimed that I felt it was important they be asked in public.

Most of the Candidates couldn’t get their coats on fast enough to dodge said questions.

The ONLY FOUR CANDIDATES that were willing to address the questions that the League of Women Voters were Remiss in addressing were Andrew Gasser, David Stieper, Zane Seipler and Ersel Schuster.

    Kudos to them.

IN THE FUTURE, can’t we find better organizers for these forums?

Come to think of it, Can’t we find better Candidates?

Out of 13 candidates, 2 no shows, and 7 who wouldn’t address unanswered questions.

What makes us think that those 7 would be engaged enough to do the job they’re vying for if they dodge constituents questions????

  2. Yes you may.

Michael Rein who is a new candidate.

And Michele Aavang, veteran board member who often times doesn’t show up to the County Board Meetings, so this absenteeism from her is no great surprise.

  3. My question was: Would the board members be willing to consider hiring Contract Law Enforcement Officers to rid our county of this union problem?

Zane S. had the salaries of all the cops and I can’t remember when ANYONE I knew received a 16% salary raise!!!

The taxpayers haven’t even seen the 2% cost of living raises in YEARS!!!

    Enough is enough!

  4. It was not a big crowd at all.

The gentlemen on either side of me had questions they turned in that ALSO WENT UNADDRESSED!

I can see we’re going to need watchdogs to join the League of Women Voters to keep them straight too!

    Very Poor.

Just the fact the moderator didn’t even learn the candidates names shows total lack of preparation.
