Addicted Children’s Mom’s Group Starting

Here’s a press release about the formation of a new self-help group that I fear too many Mom’s might find useful:

THE ADDICT’S MOM ANNOUNCES ILLINOIS STATE CHAPTER

Vernon Hills, IL March 4, 2014 – With the epidemic rise of drug abuse and overdose, especially opiates, in the 5 collar counties of Chicago, the need for family support is overwhelming.

Starting Wednesday, March 12, 2014, and continuing on the first Wednesday of every month, the Illinois Chapter of The Addict’s Mom will be meeting at Kiva Recovery, 935 Lakeview Parkway, Suite 101, Vernon Hills, IL from 6-8pm.

The Addict’s Mom began six years ago when Barbara Theodosiou, a South Florida mother of four, found out that two of her sons were addicted to drugs.

At a loss and not knowing where to turn, her life plunged into one of despair.

She was living every mother’s worst nightmare and did not know where to turn.

Through Barbara’s despair an idea was born:

The Addict’s Mom. As the mother of two addicts, it took me four years to realize that I matter, that my life has purpose. I didn’t have to die inside because my sons were addicts. I am learning that I am important — to myself and other people in my life. Until this recent development of state chapters, TAM has been an online support community with over 20,000 members on the web site and several Facebook pages. (theaddictsmom.com)

United behind the credo “Sharing Without Shame” and “Together We Really Are Stronger”, thousands of mothers can find support, valuable low cost resources to help their addicted children, and a place to share with other mother’s.
