The Zinke Endorsements

Andy Zinke thought enough about some of those who endorsed him that he ran their names twice, albeit in tiny type.

Included on Zinke’s mail pieces including endorsements, he starts with two newspapers, then lists his patron, Sheriff Keith Nygren, then Sheriff’s–Republican and Democrat–from surrounding counties, present and past County Board Chairwoman (and men), one other countywide official, state legislators living in McHenry County, a couple of township officials, one former Des Plaines Police Chief, seventeen current mayors and village presidents (one retired), plus the Harvard Police union.

On his “Andy Zinke is a leader we can trust, “ mailer, no, the headline was “ANDY ZINKE A LEADER WE CAN TRUST,” the list of those who endorsed his campaign appears a second time.

A commenter named Dorry on the Northwest Herald story about Bill Prim’s victory wrote that he got an envelope with a Woodstock return address about a message from her mayor.

It was from McHenry Mayor Sue Low, a public official Dorry apparently holds in low regard.

You can see it below:

The endorsement letter for Andy Zinke from McHenry County Mayor Sue Low.

Note that this is mailed First Class.

Look at the envelope. It could have had a McHenry return address, but it does not.

The return address is from Woodstock.

The Zinke Endorsements — 7 Comments

  1. Are you saying the Mayor of McHenry didn’t send it . . . or write it?

I’m very disappointed in several local politicians who endorsed Zinke, who should have known better.

We need to remember at the next elections, and make sure there are candidates running against them, particularly Tryon, Althoff and Barb Wheeler.

The Republican party needs to get back to following the platform, and locally stop being run by two former has-beens, behind the scenes.

  2. This just shows how little influence politicians have in endorsing other candidates…and in some cases the endorsements work AGAINST a candidate.

  3. Maybe Zinke’s middle finger left a greater impression on Prim voters than the above Zinke endorsements.

  4. Dear Prim Supporters,

It appears you may have very well have won the Primary.

Keep up the arrogant victory lap about the Bianchi branch of the Old boys club winning this one by a few dozen votes over the Nygren branch and the already bitter split could very well deliver our first Independent Sheriff.

Sure it looks like you edged us out by like a quarter of a percent…but Many of us who typically support the Republican candidates in this county are waiting to see if the petty nastiness will end so we can decide to consolidate, but the more we hear you really don’t want, care, or respect the support of half of the Counties Republican voters the more likely we are to take you for your word.

It simply sounds like if we don’t agree with you on 100% of this stuff you don’t want us in “your” party.

    Good luck with that.

  5. During the primary the Prim supporters only commented on the lies that Zinke supporters were saying about Mr. Prim.

  6. Butseriously: You are spewing criticism toward the conservative wing of the Republican Party.

“Petty nastiness” you call “our” tactics.

You claim we are not “loyal” to the Republican Party.

The reality is that it is the liberal-moderate wing of the Republican Party that practices a scortched earth policy in politics.

They, like their philosophical kin (the Democratic Party), are the ones who attack the individual rather than address the issues.

That is why Franks is at Zinke’s party.

That is why the liberal-moderate Republicans defect to the Democrats in November.

YOUR kind of Republicans are the nasty ones.

Re-read the posts before the election….it’s your side who are the angry ones.

  7. Many of us believe that the republican party in this county was just a club of good old boys who had the whole pie to themselves.

In actuality they were no more republican than Hilary Clinton.

Now that they have finally lost control of the Sheriffs dept. they are proving this to be the case.
