All seventeen of McHenry County’s townships hold their meetings at the same time and date, but all townships’ officials don’t encourage people to attend.

Not that regular folks have much power, but they did in Grafton Township when the members of the Township Board were hellbent on building a new township hall.

Here is what Algonquin Township Trustee Larry Emery has written on his blog about

  • his township last monthly meeting and
  • the upcoming Annual Town Meeting.

Assessing to Budget Start-

Algonquin Township Board Meeting 3-11-14

The Algonquin Township March 2014 Board meeting was held on Wednesday (2nd the month) All who can, please attend APRIL 8th  (#168, time flies when you are having fun) and followed by our monthly board meeting.

Based on comments by Russ [Cardelli], Melissa [Sanchez], and myself, the Proposed 2014-2015 Annual Budget & Appropriation Ordinance discussion should be “interesting” in April.

Focus will be on all line item concerns, but especially

  1. Building and Equipment plans/requests
  2. Information technology needs and future plans for transparency
  3. Personnel Payroll/Benefits and requested increases.

All of the trustees have indicated they will work with each of the fund managers during the next month to understand their strategy, action plans, and what is required to fund with our tax dollars and where savings can be made this year and on.

Audience participant, Lou Anne Majewski, submitted a detailed list of questions and concerns.

She provided a copy to Dan Shea (assigned board chair until Dianne is back from medical leave).

Some of topics were on Comp time, elimination of credit card use, No raises, request for Senior Transportation expense analysis, request for Recycle expense analysis, Job Descriptions, Fees for township resource usage compared to expense, more detailed minutes.

I will confirm that her list shows up in the minutes.

There was also a representative from First Electric Newspaper (FEN). Here is a link for details on his reporting with a focus on the Bob Kunz’s “assessment” on assessing.
