  1. The voters in McHenry County have been very generous with the MCCD for years.

Now, the MCCD needs to do the taxpayers a favor and live within their budget.

Oh, and Althoff needs to be fired.

  2. We need and Independent or Democrat to run against Althoff.

This is gerrymandering with republicans in McHenry County as much as it is with democrats in Cook county.

No competition means we all pay more taxes and less innovative ideas.

  3. In regards to the response received by Susan…if the “fiscal conservative” Senator wanted to help us keep taxes down, she would not have even sponsored this bill.

  4. Now MCCD can purchase more land to take off the tax rolls that nobody uses.

Do you know McHenry Co Cons District used McHenry Co tax dollars purchasing land in LAKE County east of Rawson Bridge Rd?

Check their dire map. McHenry co maintains it.

Mostly swamp along the river they paid premium dollars acquiring.

We should change this into a County Forest Preserve District like all but four other counties in the state so THE CITIZENS have more say and better use of the properties.

Lake County, Kane County,Cook County all have Forest Preserve Districts and they provide parks and golf courses, swimming pools, picnic shelters.

McHenry Co has swamps and unimproved fenced in properties that people are excluded from using because we may trample some prairie weed….

  5. I promise to vote against Althoff and anyone that supports this bill increasing taxes.

I and my family will vote for anyone that runs against her from now on.

  6. We need a good, solid CONSERVATIVE to run against Pam Althoff, Barb Wheeler, Mike Tryon — in the next primary.

Give us a choice in the Republican party.

Aren’t these the same politicians who complain about Quinn, Madigan and Rahm raising taxes, and then they go and do it locally?

We’ve had enough, and can barely make ends meet, and now they want more money to buy more useless land (like Justin noted)?

MCCD has enough of our money already.

    Something sounds fishy.

  7. Hmmm….So all this bill does is give the MCCD the right to ask voters to decide if they want to add additional funding?

    Really?

So my guess as a conservative is that I would probably vote against such a referendum without a very convincing public case made.

…But as conservatives have we really got to the point where we will demonize someone for even asking that voters are allowed to decide on a referendum for if spending is needed?

Sometimes I think we knee jerk ourselves into being our own worst enemy.

  8. …Oh and sometimes I think there are some who mask themselves in the conservative shroud to drive personal agendas…
