“Anything we can do to advance the cause of job creation, we are obligated to do,” said McSweeney.

“We need to rethink the way we view our educational system’s relationship with private business and manufactures in ways that can benefit both.  I think we’ve done this here.”

This measure, House Bill 4910, is a measure supported by the Illinois Manufacturers Association that specifically encourages job-training partnerships between manufacturers and community colleges.  The measure includes no new state spending and does not contain any mandates.

“We are fighting some large battles in Springfield in our attempt to put Illinois’ fiscal house back in order,” added McSweeney.  “However, while we work towards the goal of stability we must not lose sight of the primary goal of creating jobs and dramatically increasing the employment numbers in Illinois.”

The legislation passed on a 107-0 roll call and now heads to the Senate for consideration.
