When I was in grade school, there were outsiders in my Emerson Grade School one day in Salt Lake City.
It turned out it was election day, 1954.
That’s one of the memories I have of that time of my life.
It showed me how important voting was.
It was a favorable memory.
And, that’s what I thought of when I heard that State Rep. Jack Franks was proposing to prevent polling places from being located in school buildings.
Protecting the children was the reason Franks used in support of his legislation.
When asked about the idea, McHenry County Clerk Kathie Schultz pointed out that many parts of the county have no public buildings in their precincts other than schools.
Will County Clerk Nancy Schultz is advancing an alternative idea that schools have a teacher institute on election day. That’s what Joliet’s radio station WJOL reported Friday.
The station said that the bill is in the Rules Committee, which pretty much means it is dead.
Democrats… It’s always “for the children”.
No comment on experimenting on children’s minds and values.
Just teach them voting is the enemy of their safety.
It’s smart.
Evil.
But smart.
It’s clear Madigan is behind this.
Jack isn’t smart enough to push this in a conservative white county first to appear above board rather than the insanely elitist racist bill this will truly become in practice.

Personally, I don’t have an issue with polling centers being located in school building.
I believe a healthy compromise can be met where those who are voting do not come in contact with children.
I have yet to hear about a person voting and then conducting an inappropriate act in the presence of children.
However, all it takes is one instance somewhere in the U.S.A. and Franks will say see I told you so.
Cooler heads need to prevail.
Most countries outside US have their elections on Sundays.
There is no schools on Sundays.
Problem solved.
Mr. Franks is well aware of SEVERAL provisions within the legislation, directing schools as polling places, that ensure child safety.
I have called the Franks office previously in this regard and will do so again.
Mr. Frank’s proposal sends a message to children that the right to vote in a free election is not important enough for TAX SUPPORTED BUILDINGS to be used as polling places.
IEA should take notice, too.
