Management Services Committee Considering Ethics Appointment & Purchasing

I doubt that the Management Services Committee agenda-maker intended to induce chuckles from my direction, but by considering changes in purchasing procedure and re-consideration of an appointment to the so-called “Ethics” Commission, that was the result.

The Northwest Herald recently front-paged the issue of the Sheriff’s Department letting a huge contract without County Board approval.

Purchasing will be considered Monday by a County Board committee.

Perhaps that will be covered in Monday’s 8:30 AM meeting.

Also on the agenda is the re-consideration of an appointment to the “Ethics” Commission that can’t shoot straight:

  1. Perhaps Ethics is a plastic concept that changes with the times.

    We all grow to appreciate more ambiguous nuances with time passage.

    Perhaps Ethics Committeewoman will have the personal honor to reinvigorate her commitment to her post, learn current relevant factors and issues, and find the energy to refresh her performance as applicable to the 2014 model.

    A new-thinking ethicist will consider that great power (to control the flow of money) concentrated in few hands is not currently producing a sustainable outcome for the many whose money is being conscripted.

    Perhaps an Ethical expert will conclude that individuals ought be allowed to keep a portion of their tax money, and be allowed the pleasure of passing it out to causes they deem worthy.

    Rumor has it that an ethics complaint was filed regarding one of the candidates in last month’s elections.
