A press release from the Crystal Lake Police Department:
Subject Arrested for Criminal Trespass to Residences in Crystal Lake
The addresses are somewhere in the 200 block of McHenry Avenue in Crystal Lake.
On Saturday, April 12th, 2014 at approximately 3:44 AM, residents of a home in the 200 block of McHenry Avenue, Crystal Lake were awakened by an intruder whom had forced entry inside.
The residents engaged in a brief but violent struggle with the subject, resulting in significant damage within the home, and injuries to themselves.
The suspect fled from the residence and attempted to force his way inside another neighborhood home without success.
He then approached and entered a third home through an unsecured front door, and exited the rear door.

The suspect was located within the backyard of the third residence by Crystal Lake Police, and after a brief struggle, was taken into custody.
The residents of the first home sustained injuries that did not require immediate transport to a medical facility, and were treated on the scene by members of the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department.
Charged in this series of incidents was Erasmo William Herrera, (20) of Franklin, Wisconsin. He was charged with;
- (Two counts) Criminal Trespass to Residence 720 ILCS 5/19-4(a)(1) – class 4 Felonies
- Criminal Damage to Property 720 ILCS 5/21-1(a)(1) –class 4 Felony
- Battery 720 ILCS 5/12-3(a)(2) – class A Misdemeanor
- Criminal Damage to Property 720 ILCS 5/21-1(a)(4) – class A Misdemeanor
Following his arrest, Erasmo Herrera was transported to the McHenry County Jail, where custody was transferred pending a bond hearing. On April 14th 2014 bond was set at $15,000. At approximately 9:12 AM, Erasmo Herrera posted bond and was released.
Charges should be upgraded to Home Invasion–Class X felony!
Were he a taxpaying Crystal Lake resident, Jim, he most assuredly would have been treated much more harshly and charged more severely.
A $15k bond is nothing.
My question, is this individual a citizen of the United States?

My proof is, I know how to access public records, obviously, unlike yourself. Public records shows that Mr. Herrera is a U.S. citizen.
Being that Mr. Herrera is a U.S. citizen, I doubt he or anyone else really cares what the punishment is in Mexico for the crime he was charged with.
Lets say you were pulled over for a minor traffic violation, would you then look up the punishment for that traffic violation in the country from which your ancestors came? I doubt it.

The reality is a home was broken into, injuries sustained, the perpetrator needs to be held accountable.
It could have happened to anyone in any culture and of any ethnicity.
The same applies to the “home invader/attacker”.
