Chicago Tribune cartoonist Scott Santos calls Governor Pat Quinn “Mr.Clean” on the page across from George Will’s column.

Columnist George Will focused on politics in the state where he grew up in a column published in the Chicago Tribune Thursday.

“Quinn is, as Winston Churchill reportedly said of an adversary, a modest man with much to be modest about.

‘Hence Quinn’s campaign theme: Don’t compare me to the almighty, compare me to the alternative.”

Later Will prompted me to laugh out loud when he quoted Rauner quoting Governor Adlai Stevenson as saying,

“Cleanliness is next to godliness, except in the Illinois legislature, where it is next to impossible.”
